AIM: This course teaches participants how to recognise and respond appropriately to signs of emotional distress
This two-day course qualifies you as a Mental Health First Aider, giving you:
- An in-depth understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect wellbeing
- Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues
- Confidence to step in, reassure and support a person in distress
- Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgemental listening
- Knowledge to help someone recover their health by guiding them to further support
This training is being funded by Being You Leeds to increase access to Mental Health Training and is FREE for:
- community organisations, charities and non-profit organisations
- volunteers as well as paid workers
We are keen to ensure that those attending either work or volunteer for:
- organisations working within the most deprived areas of Leeds or
- organisations supporting socially excluded groups and communities with the worst health outcomes
To qualify for a free place, you must also be (working or volunteering) directly supporting people (i.e. a frontline worker).
