Inspire North Response to Local Election Results

Inspire North May 26

Our work continues to focus on tackling inequality, improving mental health, and ensuring people can access the support they need - regardless of political change.

As the results of the local elections continue to settle, we recognise the outcomes may raise questions, concerns, and feel unsettling for some colleagues. We want to take this opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to acting in line with our values including our commitment to equity, inclusion, and anti‑racism and to ensuring all colleagues feel respected and supported.

At Inspire North, we are clear about who we are and what we stand for. Our commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion, and to being an anti-racist organisation, is fundamental to everything we do. We strive to create an environment where everyone feels safe, respected, and valued, regardless of their background or identity.

We want to acknowledge that current events can have an impact on how people feel at work, and in their communities, and that many colleagues, and particularly People of Colour, may feel angry, upset, or fearful. It is important we continue to talk about structural racism as an issue we stand against.

Political platforms can unfortunately give legitimacy to those who are intent on spreading hate and injustice.  We had already planned our peace conference to coincide with the election outcomes and hope you can join us next week to explore how we can all take up a role to make positive change.

We encourage everyone to continue to uphold the inclusive culture that defines our organisation, regardless of your politics, to check-in with each other, to offer support and allyship.
