This course provides mental health practitioners with essential awareness of ligature risks and practical skills for responding effectively. It includes a demonstration and hands-on practice using cut-down tools, alongside exploring the psychological and contextual factors behind ligature use.

You’ll learn to:

✔ Understand what a ligature is and its associated risks
✔ Formulate risk and apply good practice principles
✔ Explore the historical context and reasons for ligature use
✔ Discuss advance directives and safety planning
✔ Participate in a practical exercise using cut-down tools
