Aspire - Voyage to Recovery 2025
In July, our early intervention in psychosis service, Aspire, set sail on the Voyage to Recovery 2025, taking clients aboard a sailing boat for a full week of adventure therapy.
This won’t be the first time Aspire colleagues and clients have braved the seas. Back in 2023, they completed a vast journey from Hartlepool to Ipswich, living and learning the life of a sailor. They spent the week learning to sail, changing sails and steering the ship. Along this journey, the highlights were witnessing a whale on the surface and dipping into the sea for a swim around the boat. Thrown in the deep end, if you like.

They built positive connections and bonded well as a team throughout the trip, and this time round, they’ll be looking to do a lot of the same.
This year sees the voyage set off from Oban around the Scottish Highlands to Peterhead and is likely to come across a whole variety of weather. It is due to be an incredibly transformative journey for those involved.
You can donate to support the running of the trip to get essential travel to the start point and food costs.

Any support is greatly appreciated and will make the adventure a reality.
What is adventure therapy?
From scaling mountains to ship sailing and wandering through woodlands, outdoor adventures are increasingly recognised as a powerful way to support people’s recovery.
Participants have shared that engaging in the outdoor challenges has helped them rebuild confidence, enjoy social connections, and feel they’re making progress in their recovery journey.
It not only challenges someone in an environment different from their normal but also encourages people to engage in social spaces and push themselves.
"The Voyage helped me grow as a person and know we can accomplish anything as a team if we put our minds to it!"
