Eating Disorders Awareness Week 2021 – Resources

March 1st-7th is Eating Disorders Awareness Week in the UK. Around 1.25 million people in the UK are living with an eating disorder, with calls to helplines up sharply during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the Inspire North Group, Community Links works in partnership with the Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LYPFT) on the Connect Eating Disorder Service, which serves adults in West Yorkshire and Harrogate. Further information, including referral information, can be found on the Connect page.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Connect team began Instagram Live sessions for clients and anyone else who may benefit from information and support with their eating disorder. The sessions run twice a day and are available on Instagram. Connect has guidelines for responsible social media use, which should be read before joining a Live session.

Ellie and Cornell, the Peer Support Workers in the Connect team, have compiled a list of social media resources for those wanting information and support with their eating disorder. These are available for download on this page. You can read more about Peer Support work here.
